We enjoyed a lovely day making a very satisfying book with Anna Yevtukh-Squire, via Zoom, complete with decorated pages. There was no sewing and Anna worked through the whole process, using glue to bind pages together, finally putting the ‘book’ into hard covers made from grey-board covered with book-cloth. We learned so much about getting the grain of paper and board to work together and how to avoid common mistakes while gluing or getting the book-cloth to fit. Many of us continued on later to finish our book off, or start a new one. This method turned out to be ideal for putting separate pages of sketches or old calligraphy practice sheets together. The follow up chat two weeks later may well have inspired some more book-making. The results will be very useful for our book festival in September.
