Our workshop on 21st November was presented by Joy Daniels. It was a delight to explore the versatility and flexibility of the pointed nib for pattern making and floral designs. Working along with Joy we tried out our nibs to see which produced the best result for the design. You may think it looks simple, but we found it was definitely best to have an expert show us where to begin with basic shapes that you can build from to then create your own individual design. Starting with the larger shapes we learned how to fill in ever more detail, and agreed with Joy that the important thing is knowing when to stop. We played with inks or Finetec paints, and metallic pencils. Since the workshop some of us have tried mixing silver Finetec with coloured ink or gouache, and discovered that metallic gel pens are pretty useful too.
